Firstly, I think that this one has been reformulated- Byredo no longer lists the limoncello top note, and I don't really smell anything sweet or citrus-y in it, either, which is fine by me! To me, this is a bone-dry, light oud, lightly spiced and smoldering ever so slightly without ever straying into heavy-smoke territory. It's very woodsy- there's a trace of something pleasantly rainy in it, I think- with a light musk dry down. It layers beautifully with anything cardamom-y or sweet-powdery- I wore it layered with Poesie's Madar perfume oil all through a very damp and dreary Vermont autumn and really, really loved it. Not necessarily a safe blind buy, but I'd think that's a given with ouds.
